Chiropractic FAQs

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

No, you do not need a referral to see a chiropractor unless you are seeking treatment under a Medicare enhanced primary care plan or through the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (DVA).

Can chiropractic help with my headaches, sciatica, low back pain, shoulder pain, stiff neck, sports injury...?

Chiropractic may help resolve or improve many conditions, and your chiropractor is a health professional who has the experience and training to determine whether or not your condition could be helped by chiropractic. If there’s any concern, your chiropractor will be able to refer you to another health care professional and/or for further investigations.

How long do I need to allow for an appointment?

Appointment lengths will vary according to your requirements each visit. If you’ve got time restrictions, have a chat with our Chiropractic Assistants when you’re making your appointment. Typically, for an initial appointment you will need to set aside 45-60 minutes. For follow up visits, about 15 minutes.

Is Chiropractic safe?

Chiropractors are registered and qualified health care professionals. In Australia, chiropractors must complete an extensive five-year university education and clinical training program to ensure they provide low-risk effective care.

Will I need Xrays?

Perhaps. If your chiropractor determines that Xrays are clinically indicated, you will be referred to a local radiology practice. If you’ve already had Xrays, or other medical imaging or tests performed recently, please bring them along to your appointment.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing you can move in. You will not need to undress for a standard consultation.

Can I bring my children?

Yes. We have a dedicated kids corner where children can draw and play, and children are welcome to sit in during your appointment.

Do you see children, or patients during pregnancy?

Our chiropractors see patients of all ages and stages of life. Care is always tailored to the individual after a thorough assessment, and techniques are adapted accordingly.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on your condition, how long you’ve had it, and your goals. Your chiropractor will discuss a recommended plan with you at your first visit — and how you proceed is always your decision.

How much will it cost after my health fund?

Our fees are listed on the Fee Schedule. With your health fund card we process the claim on the spot through Tyro, and you pay only the gap. The gap amount depends on your fund and level of cover.

Do you offer counselling or play therapy?

Yes — counselling and play therapy are independent practices consulting from our rooms: counsellors Conny Koenderink, Annie Sorell and Bronwyn Campbell, and play therapist Nicky Nilsson. Bookings are made directly with each practitioner, not through the clinic — you will find their contact details on Our Practitioners.
