Jaquereen Huang, play therapist and supervisor
Jacquereen is a child specialist mental health practitioner providing psychotherapy for children. She is clinically focused on integrating a range of Play Therapy modalities including Integrative Humanistic Play Therapy, Child-Centred Play Therapy, Filial Play Therapy, Learn to Play Therapy, and Trauma-informed play therapy.
Jacqeureen’s passion is to support children between 2 to 12 years with disability and mental health. She has been providing clinical services for children who have emotional difficulties, psychosocial difficulties, trauma issues as well as special needs.
In the playroom, the child is free to explore and direct his or her own play if he or she has play abilities. The child leads the play experiences and Jacquereen provides the space for the child to express their “moment to moment” desires wishes and wants. Through the power of play, facilitated by Jacquereen, the child can learn to address and resolve his or her issues. The child learns to express his or her feelings and thoughts, make sense of confusing and difficult experiences, build self-esteem and confidence, develop problem-solving skills and resilience, learn a variety of ways of relating to others, and more.
Jacquereen speaks English, Putonghua, and Cantonese. She has a good understanding of the diversity of both Chinese and Western cultures. Her cultural sensitivity helps her have a better perspective to understand the challenges faced by individuals from different cultural children and families.
